About the Author
Mark was born in Cleveland, Ohio at Saint Ann’s Hospital for Women and Children and lived at Saint Vincent Roman Catholic Orphanage until his parents Anne and Joseph adopted him the year after he was born. His adoption was arranged by a Priest who was the same priest who married he and his wife Loretta 30 years later. Mark’s mom and dad lived in Warren, Ohio where Mark grew up as a child. Mark’s Dad was a millwright at General Electric Company Miniature Lighting Division at Trumbull Lamp Plant where his Dad met his Mom. Warren, Ohio is a Midwestern “Rust Belt town” where the largest employers were steel and industrial manufacturing organizations. Mark graduated from Warren Western Reserve High School and graduated from Case-Western Reserve University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Operations Management and Organizational Behavior. His academic career took him into the consulting business where he rose to the ranks of Associate Partner at Andersen Consulting (Now Accenture) after ACCENTURE, Mark was bitten by the entrepreneurial bug and after he left Accenture he moved from Cleveland to Chicago where he started two small companies, Ameritech Health Connections and Health Network Ventures. Both companies were initially funded by the Ameritech Corporation and by Aurora Health Systems in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mark has always had an interest in using technology to leverage assistance for as many people as possible. To that end Mark used his interpersonal and communication skills to assist clients with technology directed at the healthcare industry and with innovations such as Health Information Networks, which sound commonplace today, but it was novel to exchange laboratory and insurance information between hospitals and physicians offices when Health Connections and Health Network Ventures were launched. Mark and his team grew the initial $10Million in seed funding from Ameritech and Aurora Health Systems into a $250 Million annual revenue run rate in four years. Mark’s Professional career has taken him to live in New York City, San Francisco, Dallas, Salt Lake City, Charleston, Washington DC and London. After Mark and his business partners sold Health Connections and Health Network Ventures he joined IBM and ran the IBM Global Services Division supporting the Global Healthcare Industry, Mark was recruited to be President of EDS Global Healthcare Division and stayed with EDS through the acquisition of EDS by Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services and led the multi-billion dollar healthcare division of HP Enterprise Services until he was recruited by Computer Sciences Corporation to run CSC’s Global Healthcare Group where he served as President of both CSC Global Healthcare and President of iSoft a $600Million Healthcare Software Company, he was recruited to a healthcare start-up Lumeris in St. Louis Mo, which was a well funded healthcare technology organization with funding from Kleiner Perkins and Passport Capital of San Francisco to head their sales, marketing and Consulting Divisions. After his true with Lumeris Mark started Creative Evolution Ltd., a specialty consulting organization which specializes in commercialization of new technology for Colleges and Universities globally in all industries. He also started Creative Evolution Ltd to pursue his passion for writing and one of the results is his first book “Conquering the Boundaries of Friendship – Making and maintaining meaningful Male Relationships” in which he tackles the boundaries men face in making and maintaining meaningful male relationships. His next book is being co-authored with his current business partner, a friend and colleague for thirty-three years Greg Johnson. Mark and Greg are writing the book to help entrepreneurs and founders of innovative new companies to get funding for their business launch or take their business to the next level. Mark has started writing his next book whose working title is “You’re Cured – the definitive guide to the healing process for patients and caregivers”. Mark has interviewed over 400 people for “You’re Cured” who have had traumatic injury to their bodies or caregivers of those patients – You’re Cured gives both caregivers and patients a view of what they are about to experience or they are experiencing and how the other people in the equation may be feeling based on the hundreds of interviews which Mark conducted. Mark heads Creative Evolution from his home in Northeast Ohio and he and his wife Loretta split their time between Ohio and Virginia where they have a second home in the Historic Triangle Area of Virginia Mark is Chairman of the Board of The Jamestown Rediscovery Foundation in Jamestown Virginia and Mark is on the Advisory Board of Lightsense Technologies and provides advisory Board services to several other Technology Start-up Organizations. Mark and Greg started DeNovo Advisors LLC which provides operational diligence services to Private Equity Firms, Venture Capital Firms and Family Offices of the Ultrawealthy giving those firms confidence that their investment targets are sound operationally and will have a high likelihood of success for themselves and their investors. Mark has a professional certificate in Private Equity and Venture Capital from Bosconi University in Milan Italy and a professional certificate in business strategy and shareholder value creation from the London Business school in London England. Mark is strictly a non-fiction author, he doesn’t have the imagination to create characters and worlds and scenes like some of his friends who are authors who create fantastic fiction and science fiction. Mark is a VIP Member of the Nonfiction Authors Association and regularly attends the nonfiction author events- in 2021 Mark was selected by top 100 magazine as one of the top 100 most influential business leaders in North America Mark has managed company P&Ls from $10Million to $19.0Billion – Mark is a respected entrepreneur, fortune 50 senior executive and service provider to the capital markets – DeNovo Advisors has over 300 contractors who provide specialty skills and capabilities on projects to assure their success.
